Projects Fundraisers
Community Service is a key part of the philosophy of Rotary. Here's a sample of the projects of the Lambert Airport Rotary Club. Click on the links, as they are developed, to see more about these events:
MBCH Strawberry Festival
The first Saturday in June marks the longest continuous festival west of
the Mississippi River, the Missouri Baptist Children's Home Strawberry
Festival. The Lambert Airport Rotary Club started cooking the brats and
dogs for this event in 1984. All proceeds go to the good work of the
Children's Home.
Christmas Shopping with the
Children's Home Kids
The first Community Service
project the club had was shopping with the kids at the Missouri Baptist
Children's Home. We enjoy a Saturday morning each holiday season shopping
for families identified by the administration of Drummond Elementary School in
the Pattonville School District. This
allows the young adults of the MBCH the opportunity to shop for those even less fortunate than
they are and teaches them, very early, the value and importance of giving to
others They historically have real fun shopping for others,
wrapping the presents, and consuming some pizza when the work is done. Then there is the
rewarding moments when the 'Thank You' letters come to them. It's
an experience they couldn't get any other way in their life right now.
And, it's not a bad experience for the club members, either.
School Supplies Round Up
Each summer in July, the club collects school supplies in preparation for the
upcoming fall semester.
Community Helping Ministries is the agency that we work with and support to
distribute these supplies to children in need.
